This Saturday three farmers markets run by young people will be open in Queens and will run on Saturdays through the summer and into the fall. Youthmarket farm stands are operated by neighborhood young people and bring fresh local fruits and vegetables to many communities through the city. The youth running the stands have an opportunity to earn money and learn basic business skills and the stands give farmers access to previously underserved areas. Markets will be in the following Queens neighborhoods:
Ridgewood: Myrtle Ave and Cypress Avenue, Saturdays, 7/13 – 11/23, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Long Island City: 48th Ave. and Vernon Boulevard, Long Island City, Saturdays, 7/13 to 11/23, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Rockaway: Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 67th Street and 69th Street, Saturdays, 7/13 to 8/31, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
