MP Taverna, the Astoria location that is, gets its star turn today in the form of a one-star review in the New York Times. Chef Michael Psilakis’ “crowded, unrestrained” take on casual Greek dining generally hit the spot with reviewer Pete Wells. Speaking of the spicy lamb sausage, Wells says “It isn’t a dish you meditate on. It’s one you demolish, forkful by forkful.” And on the restaurant in general: “The flavors are so robust and the prices so unassuming that I was ready to overlook moments when a little more finesse wouldn’t have been out of place.” Sounds pretty good for a place with plastic menus!
