Oh Nicki Minaj. You are quite something – inspiration to little girls, doing the creep with John Waters and The Lonely Island, and generally creative dresser. But you were once just a kid from Queens, freestylin’ it up on the streets, and when it comes to that, she proclaimed, “I only rap because I’m good at it… it really was a hobby for a minute… and I’m like DAMN, look at the state of hip hop!” A lot of great rap and hip hop artists have come out of Queens, from South Jamaica (50cent), to the Queensbridge Houses (Nas), the Hollis (Run-D.M.C).
