The medium size apartment building going up at 130 Grand Street (aka 255 Berry) on the corner of Berry is nearing the finish line. It will be four stories with 14 apartments, according to permits. Previously, a one-story commercial building with two garages was located here. In our opinion, this is one of Karl Fischer’s better efforts. We think it’s more elegant than the very similar building he designed down the street at 227 Grand, and the scale of it fits in well with its surroundings. What’s your opinion?
Is there an award, like a Razzie, given to the architects who’ve most fuglified NYC with their buildings? This guy may lead, and Scarano a contender. Not that public shaming would make a difference to them. $$$
