A loyal reader, 11217, tipped us off that a new boutique has opened at 69 7th Avenue in Park Slope. The name is Dolly Lyla. Alas, that is all we know for now (no phone number available), save for the evidence of the festive red dress in the window, just in time for holiday shopping season. The review we heard was that “the space was gorgeous.” Please keep sending in your Streetlevel tips! GMAP

  1. is this the place on that block that’s been around a little while that looks like some tacky brothel is having a sale?

i may be wrong, but i think its owned by the same woman (overdone blonde) who drives a yellow porche, and lives in a newly renovated brick down 7th ave towards flatbush, on the south side. think i kept seeing her going between the 2 places, so am just assuming.

  2. personally i find these crappy little overpriced boutiques, galleries, open for one hour a week stores a total waste of space and barf-inducing. no offense to someone who might like it, just wish something better and more interesting could be in it’s place. ooooh you know i did check out the new beacon’s closet space. i wound up totally wasting 20 bux on a sweater, but that’s okay i never buy clothes much so it was worth it. except there are some RUDE as hell shoppers in there. the salesgirl however was sweet as a button. (tho they don’t take 50 or 100 dollar bills!!! what is UP with that!? they said because of a lot of conterfeit. what!?! i had to go and get change.

  3. My guess is that these people own the building and this is the wife’s project or something. Probably why it took a while to get it into shape.

I just saw it was open on Saturday for sure, so you might want to check back in another time.

People stop and stare in all the time and admire the stuff and the space, so it seems odd that they don’t have more regular hours.

  4. I agree with kwar228. This store looks amazing but I have never ever ever ever ever been able to get inside. I look through the window and they have amazing vintage stuff but i have never been able to walk in. after a while, I thought it was a “front” as well. only recently they put the name in the window. hmmmmmmmmmm

  5. “and has never, let me repeat never ever once been open.”

It was open when I walked inside it.

I agree though that it doesn’t seem like a typical store and doesn’t have hours posted out front, but it is indeed open from time to time.

It seems more like a shop/gallery or something along those lines.

I’m actually not a fan of that red dress in the window, Rob. I’m more a blue person…

I don’t know anything about the merchandise itself as it all seems rather feminine, but the interior of the store IS really pretty…a couple of great chandeliers, etc…

  6. This doesn’t appear to be a real store–it has actually been around–minus the sign and some interior work for a year or so, and has never, let me repeat never ever once been open. There has never been any human presence other than when they seemed to be doing some work inside. Maybe they needed a fake store address for something. And, as you say, there is no phone number. Oh well. Nice dress.
