Hopefully this will have been worth the wait! The Eagle reports that a grand opening ceremony is scheduled today for the long-delayed athletic center at the armory on 8th Avenue between 14th and 15th streets. The Y, which is running the center, has info on their website about charter memberships, which are priced at $40 for adults and $72 for families. According to the site, that buys you access to the new track, fitness machines, and group classes. The center, which was made possible by a $16 million renovation to the armory, was originally scheduled to open more than two years ago.

I stopped by and talked to someone there last week. The main room with the track will be open only to students between 10-2 on weekdays, but the smaller areas with cardio machines, etc., will be open to adults all the time.
My neighborhood has junkies, homeless and ex-cons in it.

Tybur, that will be Rob 🙂
Snappy — which of you will dress up like the kid?
Rob, IJ, let’s join together and divide that cost of $72 by three 🙂
I don’t think they actually do… you can get the family thing just having a “partner” (real or imagined). You just need to have the same address. For Christians, they’re pretty liberal.
It is definitely discriminatory if they require proof of being a so-called legal family.
Rob, it’s not descrimination, it’s a bulk buy discount!
