cell tower
The cell phone carriers must have been listening to all our bitching and moaning about contextual development! Check out those “brick” transmitters on the roof of this building at 9th Street and 6th Avenue in Park Slope.

  1. Agree with LostinBrooklyn–these things caught my eye immediately–in their hideous natural state, they’re actually less noticeable to me–they sort of blend in to the urban noise–And that tree upstate is a hoot!

  2. To the poor BklynHts resident tired of dead zone –maybe someone bought a ‘zapper’ and is cutting you off ’cause they are sick and tired of listening to you blab banalities as you walk down the street.

  3. I think the “Guy” who sits out on his stoop across the street from me all day is really a cell phone transmitter. He never moves and his color is a little off.

  4. Does anyone know about the rules regarding cell tower placement in landmarked neighborhoods. As a Brooklyn Heights resident, I’m sick of the gaping dead zones in the neighborhood. Is it because the cell companies can’t put up towers?

Or is it just beacuse T Mobile sucks?

  5. I noticed these the other evening. Or perhaps I should say, \”I immediately noticed these the other evening.\” The fake brick is so obviously and conspicuously fake. I can\’t decide whether I prefer it this way or with the antenna itself visible.

  6. I have seen a lot better than that! On the way to New Paltz, there is a cell phone antenna that’s made to look like a tree!!! It has, in vain, miserably failed but it was a noble attempt 🙂
