Im not necessarily defending the drug dealing but it does seem that there is a bit of a case of blanket demonization here. Does anyone have any concrete evidence of crimes committed by these dealers on local residents? I have lived here for 4 years and have a pretty good sense of who is probably dealing weed and I have never seen them giving anyone any hassle or even recognition for that matter. Do none of the new, young, hipsters and young parents that are now in this area smoke weed? does no=one on this site smoke weed? or is it ok if your dealer is a messenger that shows up to your door on a bike?
MB: Doesn’t take a great urban savant to predict that drug dealers, prostitutes and other riffraff will move one when some pressure is applied. It’s up to the people in the new locale, in conjunction with the authorities, to roll up the welcome map and move them out again. And again, and again, and so on.
Call Cosgrove, Tish James and Hines. If the same crowd just moved over one block, the police should be walking the beat and clearing them out. They obviously don’t live on Cambridge Place, so if they are now loitering in front of houses on your block, gambling and dealing as they were on Grand Avenue, call the cops.
Funny, this was precisely what Darrell, in another thread, said would happen. He said this just before some of us got uncomfortable and started calling him a “troll”. Good thing we silenced him, huh?
For additional information regarding the nuisance abatement action against the Lefferts Place Hotel, concerned citizens should contact the office of Councilwomen Letitia James or Captain Cosgrove at the 88th Precinct. The LPCA, though in support of recent efforts to shut down the hotel, is not directly involved in the court case. With that being said, the hotel and drug hot spots on Fulton (at Classon and St. James) should definitely be placed on next month’s LPCA agenda.

Anyone know if the LPCA plans to address issues regarding the Lefferts Place Hotel at tonight’s meeting? If so, then it would be advisable for residents of PLG to attend the meeting since the Prince Hotel Group, owner and operator of LPH and various other flop houses throughout Brooklyn, plan to open a new site on Parkside in PLG.
According to the group’s website, the company also owns short term hotels in Bay Ridge, Boerum Hill and Park Slope. Do residents in these communities report similar problems of drugs and prostitution in and around these establishments? If so, what are the police, elected officials and community groups doing about it?
Call Hynes office 718-250-3370. He is serious about cleaning things up.

Now that the police presence is heavy on Grand and Putnam.
The dealers have now moved over to Cambridge Place.
Help – what to do?
