On Sunday, the former BKLYN Yard space on Carroll, which is now being called Gowanus Grove, was once again in use, with the first Mister Sunday event taking place. The weekly afternoon series kicked off with DJ sets and grub from Mile End, among other vendors. A reader who visited declared it a “hit.”

  1. The sounds system there is the most sophisticated in bklyn. One can talk two feet away… didn’t seem different to me…

The afternoon was wonderful! I love this event. Hope the cops give brooklyn this sunday’s sound permit!

  2. “matinee” can be kinda hot. You can always do dinner afterwards or just leave with no awkward breakfast or brunch references or expectations :o). Also avoids weird cuddling situation afterwards.

  3. We stopped by on Sunday and it was a great time. Good music, food, cheap-ish beer. It never got oppressively crowded. Perfect way to spend a summer afternoon. Only complaint was too few porto-johns. I fear that once word gets out that it will become a zoo.
