This week, Forgotten NY returns to the Brooklyn of his childhood, visiting familiar parts of Bay Ridge and going off the beaten path in Dyker Beach and Bath Beach. We enjoyed checking out some of the Tudor apartment buildings that dot the area as well as the old cottages on Bath Avenue. As a bonus, it was interesting to see the shots of the Bay Ridge campus of Poly Prep (whose clock tower is pictured above), where the middle and upper schoolers go.
Where the Street Had No Name [Forgotten NY]

It starts “far down on the heights called dyker, overlooking new york bay, Stands a school with a tall white tower…. greeting ships that ply her way…
The Poly Tower…the future site of the Ms. Donovan dungeon
…greeting ships that ply her way…
Stands a school with a tall white tower…
…overlooking New York bay…
No one ever knows where Dyker Heights is, so I just say Bay Ridge…Forgotten did a nice photo tour of 13th Avenue, as well..St. Bernadette!
far down on the heights called dyker …
Agreed. So nice to see my childhood home. I’m so sorry that they’re massacring it with condo’s.
Ah, the old homestead….
