The restoration of the Brooklyn Bridge officially started at the end of the summer, but the real fun (read: noise) won’t begin until the protective layer of metal sheeting is complete. When that’s done, workers can begin blasting the lead paint and rust off the bottom of the bridge. At that point, you may want to bring your earplugs when dine at the River Cafe.
Gramps, the lead paint removal will be done in a negative-pressure containment.
I remember eating outdoors at the River Cafe many years ago, when the metal grating on the Manhattan Bridge was not covered. Very noisy and unpleasant!
All of that lead paint blowing over Brooklyn should do wonders for test scores over the next decade.
