There’ve been two loud manhole explosions in the last ten minutes in Dumbo at the corner of Washington and Water Streets. There’s billowing black smoke and lots of firemen on the scene. Update 3:40 pm: We were just on the scene and it turns out to have been related to a transformer underneath the street; Con Ed was on the scene. Man, was that loud!
I guess the exploding manhole jokes were too easy, eh?

Yup, 8th floor of 55 Washington here. Loud and scary. Mass exodus over here.
I am on the 10th Floor at 45 Main, southeast corner (opposite corner from the explosions) and our space was shaking. Not so much fun.
