From this angle at least, they appear to not be visible from the street.

Is this landmark district? If so, how did that facade get through?
Considering how respectable these dudes are (I think model citizens for people who like reasonably-scaled developments, and with pretty good taste), this one’s really a botch. The rendering was lovely, but the reality’s kind of awful. I hope they learn something from this one.
Funny how quickly a building can go up when they put their minds to it. Now if we could only see a similar level of progress at the TJ’s site…
Sarcasm, 1:15, but the fact that you had to ask underscores how crazy some in this city can become when discussing the height of new buildings.

As I understand it, the Landmarks Commission approved the extra ten feet, and then the City Council, in a bid to out-landmark the landmarks commission, turned it down. Only in New York kids.
Meanwhile the Cobble Hillers are screaming and moaning as if a nuclear enrichment site were being built on Verandah Place.
There is a certain point when the community becomes unhinged and I think we have reached that point in Cobble Hill.

Thank goodness that the extra 10 feet was chopped off. Otherwise, this building would have been so, so grossly out of context with the surrounding area.
