Streetlevel: No Life at Living on Smith
It seems the home furnishings shop Living on Smith has passed on. PMFA peeked in and found the space, at 289 Smith Street, empty of all but the display cases. There was no answer when we called their sister store, Living on Seventh, over in the Slope. Is that one still breathing? GMAP Photo by…

It’s about time! They were so rude… About four years ago we purchased a lamp, brought it home, opened the box, saw it was broken, went right back to return it, learned they didn’t have any more in stock, and were shocked to hear that returns were for credit only.
My wife used the credit, and then we never shopped there again.
why is it brownstoner only writes about shops when they are closing?
maybe the shopowners finally succumbed to the stench of their overwhelmingly gagging scented candle collections
They had a sign the last day that said it was a “moving” sale.
Maybe it’s their horrible return policy that did them in. Good riddance.
Seemed like everything in the 7th ave place was 20% off this weekend. It made me think the recession might just bring all the shops full of ‘stuff you don’t really need, but might like’ into the reasonable range. If so I’ll be spending more not less this holiday season.
Living on 7th and Living on 5th both seem alive, last time I walked by over the weekend…
