The second and third murals in a four-part series based on the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca went up on Himrod Street at Knickerbocker Avenue in Bushwick earlier this month. The series is based on the poem “Sleepless City,” written while Garcia Lorca was living in New York in the aftermath of the 1929 stock market crash. Each mural includes a stanza from the poem (in both Spanish and English) and a feature of Garcia Lorca’s face, such as an ear or his lips. The final mural will show his entire face. Mural producer Artmakers Inc. is searching for a fourth site in Bushwick.
