  1. i live a block from the $1950 place and can’t believe it! but i guess an asking rent doesn’t necessarily mean they will get it. i’m all for my property values going up (in theory) but i don’t think it’s $2k per month neighborhood. yet.

    So…in 1998 you could get a “nice pre-war building in a prime Manhattan location” for 1,400-2,600?

    I was in that budget 10 years back and lived all over Manhattan, certainly not “nice pre-war building in a prime Manhattan location” though.

Wow, having been out of the rental market for 10 years, all I can say is that I’m amazed that for what I used to pay to live in a nice pre-war building in a prime Manhattan location would now get me a dump in Bushwick where the best thing going for it are “GATES ON ALL WINDOWS” and “TRACK LIGHTING”
