houseTo follow up on yesterday’s post on Bay Ridge, this listing from Aguayo & Huebener seems to be ample evidence that $800,000 does indeed get you a solid 3-story limestone in the up-and-coming neighborhood. As usual, no address info from A&H, but mention that the house is The house is located at 227 87th Street, which is within the PS 185 School District for what it’s worth. (Is that particularly good?) According to a commenter in yesterday’s post, this place sat on the market for a long time last year, finally selling for $599,000. The reason given for the low price: Seriously listing floors. According to the same poster, the new owners did some minor work on the house and now have it back on the market. Floors, moldings, etc. look to be original and in good shape. BTW, anyone know the address?

  1. just want to say i’m a poor blue collar doctor ho bought in bay ridge for 700k last year. the poor blue collar surgeon down the block just sold for 1.9million. the really poor people across the street from me ,their father own half the bay ridge car dealerships. definitly poor neighborhood we live in. did i mention we have to be upscale, we get fresh direct.

  2. Clarification–The house in NY Times piece on Bay Ridge that sold for $845 is 256 78th and is 17.5 x 40 (lot 17.5 x 109)built 1920. That is the house where the walls were removed in the hall and center hall, creating an odd, open “loft” room as soon as you walk into the house.

    The house currently on Aguayo for $799, the flipper, is 227 87th Street, 20 x 38 (lot 20 x 100) built 1901.

  3. SHHHHH. My fellow Ridgers’ there is no reason to let the cat out of the bag. I love it our community is under the radar. We know we have the best schools, highest reading and math scores, best restaurants, and specialty stores. Look how many comments the Bay Ridge has gotten over the pat few days. Yesterdays post got 29 comments… Let’s go back to being the “Silent Majority”… No need mucking things up now…

  4. for the question is ps 185 good,it is very good. dare i say it has higher reading/math scores then the hallowed halls of ps 321. surprised that angle for sales isn’t used more often.

  5. Hey GreenDog:

I used to live on your block (#441). Is the Meat Village still on the corner? What about the bar space across the street that used to be Limestone’s (and during my father’s day theGreen Oak)?

  6. it seems they are the oldest, property shark (thank them) is my only guide……you would think the king could afford a bigger house, yet it was prob just a crash pad for him, no reason to not believe with the # of danes in the early 1900’s

  7. 424 74th St plus more on that block, and then some they share backyards with like 445 Bay Ridge Parkway
(currently on sale, for 1MM+, built for the king of denmark i think i read such) umong others,,,,,and p.s. some fantastic (and one of my fav’s from outside, 105 72nd) limestones were built in 1925….
