Constructed originally in 1819, it was one of the first to be designated a New York City landmark by the then-new Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1966. It exists in a row of beautiful Federal houses whose restoration had been commissioned by the L.P.C. itself. This level also leads to the superb 506-square foot south garden.
