Where To Rent Power Tools in Brooklyn?
Someone asked us last week to recommend a place to rent a floor sander and we didn’t have a good answer. We remember there was a place in Bed Stuy, on Nostrand maybe, where our contractor rented a couple of things during our reno, but other than that, we couldn’t be much help. We’re interested…

Someone asked us last week to recommend a place to rent a floor sander and we didn’t have a good answer. We remember there was a place in Bed Stuy, on Nostrand maybe, where our contractor rented a couple of things during our reno, but other than that, we couldn’t be much help. We’re interested to hear where readers have had good–and bad–experiences renting equipment.
Millers Tool closed.
I got a buffer rental at Coney Is. Ave and Newkirk at a place called PID

Any power tool, in the wrong hands, can do damage or injure the user, you would be better off hiring the work done by a professional.
I have to put in a plug for Total Tool Rental on Nostrand (Just south of Myrtle on the west side of the street). We’ve rented everything from them from scaffolding to floor sanders/buffers etc. but they have much more and are knowledgeable. If you are starting a renovation project I recommend you swing by to see what they have…it would have saved us multiple nightmares at the Nostrand Home Depot and the redhook/parkslpsouth lowes. Good luck!
GT Rentals, in outer Greenpoint at Apollo and Nassau– I really can’t say enough positive things about their selection, service (with instruction!), and prices. We’ve rented tons of stuff from them over the course of our renovation, from a pneumatic rock drill and huge compressor to a self-levelling rotary laser level. Often we’ve not been exactly sure what we need to accomplish a given task, and they have set us up with the perfect tool, accessories, advice, and phone support.
I rented a jackhammer from a shop on 3rd avenue and 15th street (sorry can’t remember the name). No instructions but it wasn’t too hard to figure out. I just turned it on and hung on. Price seemed fair and they were nice guys.
Millers Tools= the best
I hate all Home Depots everywhere, but I have a white-hot burn-in-hell hatred for their online department.
Another vote foe Miller’s on Coney Island Avenue. Nice people, fair prices, pretty well-maintained tools, help and instructions.
The TOOL RENTAL shop that B’stoner was referring to is on Nostrand near Myrtle Ave. It’s THE place in the area.
