We have too many stoves, and none of them work. We inherited the 1930s Magic Chef green stove below with our house, but it’s broken. We like the look (and would love to add green linoleum with a black border to match) but we’re not sure it’s worth repairing since the burner space is tiny and the oven probably won’t even fit a chicken. At the moment, we’re using a General Electric stove we bought at P.C. Richard a couple years ago, but we can’t fit all the pots we use to cook on the top at once. Friends have a 30-inch Viking stove, pictured below, and they can fit everything. It has a continuous grate, but we think the reason it’s roomier is the slimmer backsplash. It costs $3,000, as opposed to our $600 GE stove. At top is a late 1940s or early 1950s Ultimate Caloric stove from our old rental in Bushwick. We have been looking for a similar stove on Craigslist, but so far no luck. What kind of stove do you have, or are you considering buying? Also, do you have any recommendations for a 30-inch gas stove with plenty of room on top to fit four big pots? We would love to see your photos. You can post them right here in this thread.
