It would be too easy to make some snide remarks about this ad, so we’ll bite our tongue and say with all earnestness that we hope some honest people with some common sense decide to attend this job fair at the DOB. We wonder whether this means the department is actually staffing up or whether it’s just replacing the 43-year-old civil servants who are retiring.

All city employees lazy and stupid because of your dealings with one crooked inspector? Would kind of employee do you make if jump to such irrational kneejerk conclusions?
Sorry But the guy who came in my basement 12 years ago to inspect the gas boiler was on the take and the plumber had to grease his palm. He also wrote up a violation that had nothing to do with his inspection. This is why I hate all city employees. They are lazy and stupid,
please allow me to open the comments with the observation that there are lots of ways for DOB employees to take (in)action that, well, let’s generalize it as ‘not to the satisfaction of some readers of brownstoner.com’ it’s not very informative, or probably even very accurate, to sum up every disappointment with, ‘the examiner/inspector/commissioner/whomever is on the take.’ if that’s really what some people think, then they are just exposing how little they understand bureaucracies. i’m as frustrated with the DOB as anybody, but can we skip the simple-minded explanations?
