When we visited Brooklyn Borough Hall last week for Dine in Brooklyn 2007 Kick Off, we ducked into a side room full of portraits of past Brooklyn politicians. One that caught our eye was Cyrus Smith. Born in 1800, Smith was a Whig Mayor of Brooklyn from 1839 to 1841 and a member of New York state senate 2nd District from 1856 to 1857. He died in 1877 and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery. Anyone know anything else about him?

he did well to sit as mayor from 1939 if he died 1877.
