In case you needed yet another reminder that today is the last day you can file your taxes, we dug up this 182-year-old tax receipt from Brooklynite Nehemia Denton.

But before you lament ever-rising tax bills, you should know that Mr. Denton’s $50 in 1834 would be roughly equivalent to $1,388.89 in today’s cash.

That said, the paperwork sure looks like it was easier back then than it is now.
