Hi all. The best window treatment solution for tilt and turn windows is a product from RS Sylko called Plissee shades (pleated). Fabric plissee shades are highly functional and help create an elegant and modern living space. Besides free-hanging systems there is a taut system, which can be installed directly in the glass frame. This allows for the door and or window to be operated without interference. This is particularly advantageous for “tilt and turn” windows, patio doors, folding doors, and skylights. For unusual shaped windows and skylights the plissee shades can be customized to adapt for every situation. We would be happy to help and offer advice and suggestions. Hi, you can go for fabric pleated shades. These are ideal for tilt and turn windows as well as doors. We got it installed from TBS gallery. Here is a picture, if you like it, you can ask them for some suggestions about the installation. Good luck!!

There are window treatments especially designed for tilt and turn windows. Unlike the blinds that are designed for the casement or slider, these blinds are securely attached to the window and do not move forward or bow out as the window tilts. They fit snugly inside the glazing bead. I am not very techi or else I would attach?? a brochure here ,but if you like more info, send me an e mail and I can send you the brochure.

Tilt and turn windows are difficult mostly because there is not enoght space above the window to install shades or blinds since the window open inwards. There are a few options:
Roller shades tipically take about 3″ of space for manual and 4″ for motorized so if you have at least 3″ or more above the window frame, you could use those. They come in many fabrics solar blackout or you can even use Laiminated shades that is glue any fabric to a roller shade and use it. Another option is to install shades inside the window frame, that way the shade opens with the window.
for this optionĀ you can use cellular shades, silhouette shades or even wood blinds or aluminum blinds. But for the blinds you would be better off connecting the bottom rail too so the blind will move with the window. (they are called hold down brackets) If you have space in front of the window you could install blinds or shades to the ceiling and then put some kind of stopper that will prevent the window from hitting the shade. (not the best option but can be done) AsĀ you can see there are many ways to go about covering tilt and turn windows but it depends on your taste, budget and a picture of the window would help too. If you have any more questions you can post them or email me directly (email on my profile)

What about this http://curtainandblindfitter.co.uk/25mm.aspx – you could also just install regular Venetian blinds on the wall above the window, no?

This company shows you how to install blinds in your windows and there are a number of UK and Ireland sources for what appear to be thin veneitan blinds. Aside from installing roller shades in the same fashing or using some sort of film or part film, this looks like the way to go. http://www.wascowindows.com/Documents/T_T_Blind_Installation.pdf I’m partial to these shades: http://www.deliashades.com/shades/index.php
