Who are the Marvin window experts in Brooklyn?

Who are the Marvin window experts in brooklyn as i’ve had a call in the Windowrama and Dykes and got the run around from both. What i am after is very very simple. I want a casement window WITH retractable screen, everything else is pretty much negotiable but basically it seems NY retailers are clueless when dealing with anything but the most basic questions.

Who have people on brownstoer been dealing with that know the Marvin window range cold.

Just curious if you had purchased windows yet, I have sold Marvin’s for many years as well as many other manufacturers. Honestly, unless you are matching other windows, they are overpriced. Take a look at Loewen windows, they are a little lesser known, but you will get better windows for the price. Get back to me and I can give you more details on them, thanks.

Just to warn you that we unfortunately had a horrible experience with S&E (using them based on their recommendations here on the forum). There were too many issues to even get into here, but in a nutsell they included a several months long delay and a wrong sized sliding door (off by a whole foot!) that they refused to change out, forcing us to have to reframe an entire wall to fit this smaller door – plus the door pieces were all different colors. One window and screen arrived broken and when the screen was replaced, it too was the wrong size. Months of unreturned phone calls as we were waiting, and waiting, and waiting on the windows, rude behavior when we finally got impatient after months of this waiting (necessitaing a visit to our house by Frank’s boss, who was unfortunately also not helpful, just kept talking and talking and talking without letting us even explain what the problems were) — just a total, total nightmare. I agree he’s a nice guy off the bat and I think if everything in your project works really smoothly, might not have any problems – but the minute a problem arises, everything goes haywire. It was a complete and utter nightmare for us for MONTHS and I would strongly caution you against going with S&E. Good luck with your project, though. We also had to buy separate retractable screens, after spending ten of thousands on the windows…not fun.

Frank from S&E was here yesterday. Seemed like a nice guy.

Only probem we have is Marvin wont make a french casementment door with retractable screen larger than 40×60.

Its really frustrating that we are shelling out $2k a window (times 3) ….and still not getting what we want…..

had a bad experience with bay ridge window but it was a small job, maybe if you are spending more than $500 they will treat you better

have no idea about casements, but worked with Bay Ridge to replace 17 windows in a non-landmarked brick row house, and they were excellent on price and installation.  they seemed to know their stuff to me.

Bay Ridge Windows is a Marvin dealer in Brooklyn. Dykes seems not to want to talk to non-contractors when it comes to ordering windows. Maybe that’s done to propect the innocent from mismeasuring the window size and having the measurer eat a costy mistake. Also, if your house is landmarked you will have permitting issues as well.

We bought Marvin windows last year (before the retractable screen option was available) and we worked with Frank Buscarnera at S&E Building Materials.  I found him to be very helpful.
