So it's Historical Windows and Marvins, correct?

I’ve been through the archives and it looks like every windows installer except Historical Windows gets a bad rap somewhere.  And there are endless, “I wish I went with Marvins.”  And they’re gonna cost about $2,000 per average size window –  not huge, in apartments above what was originally a store.  Anything I’m missing?

We’re getting close.  We’re going with Andrew Ferris Construction.  We’ve checked them out seven ways to Sunday, and no one has a bad word to say.  And we’re going with the Marvins.  Why do you ask?

the price does sting, but I love my marvins… I used Bay Ridge Windows and have no complaints a little under 1 year after install.

Eesh.  Everyone talks abou the high price.  Well,  I’ll call them this week and get the bad news for myself.  I’m thinking the Marvin Integrity line – composite + wood – might be a little cheaper.  I think those aren’t custom sized though, so gotta talk to that expert.  Thanks so much for your help with this daunting task!

We’ve had Marvin windows installed by Historical Windows (formerly called EZ-Tilt). EZ were great to deal with and did an excellent job. The Marvin windows are also top of the line: 4-6 years later they look and function perfectly, unlike our Pellas which are horrible! My only complaint is the incredibly high price (especially for brick mold, not just inserts — the latter being penny-wise, pound-foolish IMHO). I suspect less heavily marketed windows (like Loewen, Kolbe, Lincoln) are just as good. But the key is getting first class installers and this is where EZ is hard to beat.

Thanks so much for your thoughts.  I’ve heard about Marvin Integrity composite and wood windows that might be a little cheaper.  Thing is, about all the complainers, there are almost none for Marvins and almost none for Historical Windows.  We do have  bead on a first rate contractor though, and it might be good to have him do the install.  It’s a journey, but one we enjoy!

We replaced our home’s 100+ year old windows with Marvins and are really happy with the windows.  Our contractor did the install, but friends also in Landmarked homes highly recommend Lucky Window Products (I think that’s the name–if not, it’s something very close to this).  Supposdly Marvin has one of the better warranties on windows.     I’m sure most places get a bad review at some point–there are always people who will complain about everything or have unrealistic expectations.  If I were you, I’d just have a couple of companies over to give you a quote and go from there.
