Interior storm windows
I am considering installing interior storm windows to reduce drafts and heat loss through my aluminum windows. There are a number of suppliers online, offering various types of storm window – glass or acrylic, do-it-yourself kits or professionally installed, etc. Does anyone have experience with any of these? Any recommendations or things to avoid? Thank you.

Have you heard of a company called Climate Seal (www.climateseal.com)? I was visiting my sister in Boston for the holidays and they purchased them last year and really love them. I couldn’t believe how invisible they were! They use a magnetic frame with acrylic. A metal channel attaches to the opening and the interior storm window magnetizes to the channel. I hope this helps. -Mark

A few years ago I purchased 14 of the the double glazed interior storms from a company in Wisconsin called Energy Wise Mfg. they can be reached at 563-542-2134 or www.energywisemfg.com , I put these 14 in the portion of my home that was built in the 1860’s and I just love them. This year I ordered another 18 double glazed interior storms for the rest of our home. What I like about these windows is that they are double glazed and the fact that they are compression fit, no tools needed to install and remove. Takes us about 2 or 3 minutes to put them in and 10 seconds to pop them out. This company uses a perfectly clear film that seems extremely tough, I think it’s wonderful. The thermal effeciancy created be the double glazing feature has proven to be a fantastic energy saver and also knocks down some outside noise. I have recomended these to my family and freinds who have enjoyed the same satisfaction as we have. Thanks, Joe

I’m in the same boat, and someone suggested Indow Windows (http://www.indowwindows.com). I haven’t tried them yet, but they look pretty neat. If you do go with them, please post here and again and let us know how well they work.
