How to protect skylights?
I have been reading online about ways to protect skylights from the winds we may get on Sunday. Any advice or experiences about skylights is appreciated!! Thanks

Curious if anybody else is going to go through the trouble of doing this. I mean if you are going to be that careful shouldnt you board up your windows also?

We just installed a 5’x5′ skylight and are glazing it today. We also have numerous duct openings to the roof that are not completed and covered just with sheet metal caps. I am going to use metal straps and screws to secure the caps. As for the skylight, I am wrapping it with tarps and using ratchet straps to hold the tarp tight below the drip cap of the skylight. I can’t guarantee for my client nothing will happen, and our warranty excludes damage from events such as extreme weather. However, worst case scenario some panes get broken it won’t cost much to replace them. Superior Tinsmith, who we bought the skylight from, tells me they get very busy after storms.
