How to Fix a Broken Window Screen
A few years ago we replaced our replacement windows with new ones. Now one of the screens has a pretty big hole in it. Do we need to go back to the company that installed the windows and have them order a new screen in a custom size and install it? Or is there some screen repair company that replaces the screen in the frame and reinstalls it? Or patches? Who does this kind of work?

I used one of those kits for a large screen I had made to fasten over my back yard iron gate. It worked, although the fiberglass screen material sags a but. It probably would have been easier to fit it tightly on a smaller screen.

You can buy kits if there’s a gasket that just keeps the screen in place. I’m not very deft but was able to do it easily & well.

Many hardware stores will replace screens in frames, although when I’ve had it done I removed and re-installed the screens myself–not a difficult thing to do. We’ve also had screens repaired by the company we use to replace the spring balances in our windows, but that’s been in conjunction with other work. They remove and re-install the screens.
