I was doing some work on some trim and thinking about this, at 200 a day, I would not expect someone to have the complete set of tools to do this kind of work. you can expect them to have a tool belt and hammer and tape measure but not the mitre saw, air compressor, nail gun and a lot of the other little things needed. just a thought. You might see a better response at 300 a day. it is hard to get anyone with any experience at 200 a day (helpers with little experience get almost that rate). also, if you are looking for someone who does this full time and you expect them to work during the week, as though this is their job, then they have to cover their benefits out of that 200 a day which is impossible to do (and the affordable health act is not as affordable as we think). Maybe you can find someone on layoff. someone with a day job can do it on the side but for them, after working all week, 200 is not enticing and their wives would rather have them doing work on their own houses or apartments. a few years ago my cousin asked me to come help her hang dry wall in her house for 150 a day and I had to explain to her that that was what my childcare provider got a day; that discussion ended there. the above is the reality of being (or hiring) a carpenter in the city. Excellent work. Price should be in your ballpark but they look at the work & give you a figure – w/ & w/o materials included.
