Custom Wood Casement Windows?

I am renovating a kitchen and we are hoping to design custom casement windows for the exterior wall. My GC is warning against building them to open to the outside because the wood would easily rot (rain & humidity). We do not want to do prefab windows systems (like marvin Andersen) and really want to have someone build us something specific we design…. and I am assuming that would mean they have to made of wood. But Would i really be making a mistake and would the windows have to be replaced in like 10 yrs? Thank you for any feedback

Get a custom window with exterior aluminum cladding from Europe. These are casement widows or doors that open to the inside and they have a lifespan of 50+ years easily. Lead time including delivery is about 2 months and price inc delivery is similar to Marvins. You can’t get anything even close to this quality in the US.

I had wooden replica windows made about 20 years ago & they’ve held up fine. A neighbor just got similar (for a lot less) custom-made from Windows We Are.

Does Lepage do custom design? We have a very specific size and shape we want so it must be custom.

While you could have someone build you a custom wood casement window. It would be no where near the quality of something made by a reputable company. Check out Lepage millwork. But im pretty sure you’d have to refinish the exterior every few years, no exterior coating, oil or water based will last forever.
