Custom screens for windows and doors

I’m looking for a local firm that does custom window and door screens. I have modern aluminum windows and doors that do not tracks for screens. Thanks in advance for any recommendations (typed as I’m scratching multiple mosquito bites!)

Thank you @stoopsitter for getting back to me and your suggestions at Lowe’s. I didn’t realize Lowe’s offered them!

We installed a retractable screen in the cellar, leading to the coal chute. We needed this solution because of an egress ladder that was in the way of a regular swing screen. It’s been 2 years and the screen has functioned perfectly – on cool days I open the hatch door, and air the cellar without the worry of bugs and vermin. The installer was Rick Ackerman (Cell # 917-642-3270) an authorized dealer of Phancy Screens. Rick matched the color of the screen to the door color so the frame is hardly noticeable. Highly recommended.

Maureen, The distributor we used in Sunset Park is now out of business but Lowe’s sells a couple of different brands including Larson and the more expensive but well reviewed Brisa. We love our screen door!

Have you looked into retractable screen doors? There are a number of manufacturers. They take up very little space and work well. We had one retrofitted to the door from our kitchen to the deck.

if you are not afraid to let some guy install those clips, he will have to drill the holes out of the way of any moving parts and use a rivet or sheet metal screw to secure them, you should be able to find someone to make the screens. i am not even talking about a window or aluminum shop but like a good hardware store. check the really good ones or ask Leopoldi.

home depot carries the parts to make these yourself using plastic corners to join the legs. not difficult but a pain in the a.. to cut if you do not have electric cutting devices.

you might want to think about how these should be made and fit as they can be two totally different trades and people may not cross into the other. i can start with this, you can have metal frame screens made that might fit into an open sash. you might be able to have metal frame screens made to go over the entire outside and perhaps they can drill into the aluminum frames to attach little metal mounting clips. of course, since these are metal, metal is the first guess. but if you are thinking you want the looked of a painted wood frame outside, that might work too.

if this post does not draw any attention, i might come back here an offer someone up. i used to make these things out of wood and metal for doors i’ve made but i am not sure i wish to. in a sense, making metal frame screens is something a good handyman should be able to do-
