Area around the sliding glass door?
I’m thinking of replacing my sliding glass door with a similarly sized one. I also need to replace the rotten plywood surrounding it- it’s particularly rotten at the bottom sides. It used to be a garage door. There are electric switches on the interior sides and possibly a future exhaust fan on one side so I won’t be doing side windows. Wondering if I should brick this extra space in or should it be framed out and clad in hardy board trim or something? Any thoughts? Thanks

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I’ll insulate the heck out of it. I love the idea of the lights on each side!

Andersen Windows offers exterior trim that world fill in the area and make it nice. Maybe install a light on each side too.

Good opportunity to make your rear wall more heat retaining. I would frame out that opening to the full wall depth and insulate like crazy.
