Upgrading electric service

Looking for information on upgrading a single family house in Brooklyn from 100 amps with meter inside to 150 amps or 200 amps. Wondering how much time this project would take with Con Ed involved.

Whoa that is horrifying–was just researching the topic and came up on this. So you’re saying it took 6 months from ordering to get upgraded service, and went without the entire time?

Answering my own question because I have survived! Permit filed August 5 and house rewired in a week, Single Family with Romex. A long period of being ignored and put off by energy services, a bogus failed inspection of the meter pan, paperwork lost in their computer system!?, appointments missed, crews who kept changing which side of the street the parking should be on… Upgraded 200 amp service arrived January 27 to the world’s largest and ugliest meter attached right in the middle of my front porch. Turning on a light switch for the first time in 6 months…priceless.
