Thinking of getting an automated wireless meter reader for water and other utilities
Hello, Does anyone have these? I just moved into my house and I will be living upstairs, without access to the basement, which might make the access difficult for the readers, depending on how accomodating my tenants are. My question is – is the alternative, which is “estimated reading”, more or less cost effective than this “wireless actual reading”? Do they tend to over or under estimate?

Just went to the water authority the other day. You can apply for wireless meter readers. The lady showed me – you can monitor the usage online on a daily basis. Sounds like the only solution that makes sense

National Grid will install remote readers…they might cost you . Automatic readers for the water are avaivable. Con ed is a pain, they might do it give the a shout.

Estimated reading has me up to an open bill of $ 3500 for a year, with no water used in an empty house and no fixtures. Calling the hotline every day and they seem not to know what they are doing. Can´t wait for the new meters to be installed.

Even if they do an estimated reading, they still need access occasionally to verify. I’ve gotten wireless meters for gas (and I think water?). Still need to be here sometimes for Coned, which is a pain in the behind.
