Satellite Dish
http://cdn.brownstoner.com/4ee3988f925a2-.jpg
Hello, Does anyone know a safe way to install a satellite dish on the roof of a typical 4 floor flat topped roofed building WITHOUT PENETRATION. My coop is balking at my desire to go satellite based on their fear of the roof leaking if it is drilled into. I need to provide them assurance that this is not going to be an issue and my thought is to find a way to put the dish up there without drilling….any help here? I’m dying to ditch TWC! Thanks!

“arteindus” has a good start on this one. I would use galvanized pipe in cement buckets as well but I would make a 3′ X 3′ square. By doing this your structure will not be susceptible to wind and weather. The installer will also have an easier time installing the satellite. Good luck with the board! **20/20 Audio Visual Inc.

Mount directly to the chimney, or parapet, not the roof directly. MAke sure the installer uses a single wire multiswitch or SWM. Use any and all existing cables that were used by TWC frm outside to your Apt.

I’ve seen satellite dishes attached to antenna poles anchored to chimneys.

Set a galvenized pipe in concrete and attach the dish to that, and place the whole thing on some blocks. You could probably just use a plastic mortar mixing tub to both mix and mold the concrete. Whatever way you make it, be sure you make it with a wide base so it doesn’t blow over (5 gal bucket probably won’t work).
