DEP water reading

We noticed that starting in Nov, our water reading usage has been off. Sometimes it would not show any daily data and other times it would show. It has progressively getting worse where we would get only a couple of actual reading per month. I tried to call DEP to see if they can send someone over to service the reader but they said they have a special project now and will not be servicing the reader. Anyone of you guys experience something like this? I assume in another couple of months, the reader would not be sending any data and it would just be estimates.

i did not follow namahs’ link but after seeing this post i googled something i have always wondered about: what powers the sending unit that sends the signal to the DEP car that drives around. wouldn’t it be cool if running water turned a small generator in there and it recharged a battery? i probably should not have said that here, but there is a little battery inside there and they are supposed to be changed by techs every few years. i wonder if they are failing?

Same here. I noticed a slight increase and went to check on usage and the data is missing. Looks like Nov/Dec were estimated bills. I will wait for another billing cycle. I changed to a monthly cycle now for about a year,
