Crown Heights recommendation on cable / internet / satellite
Hi, My fiancee and I are making the move to our new house this Wednesday! Wish us luck. One thing we’re going to need is cable and internet, or the satellite eqivalent. Thankfully, we’ll be able to say goodbye to Time Warner, as they don’t cover the area (on Dean Street in Crown Heights). So we’re looking at other options. Verizon FiOS is out, too. I haven’t finished checking coverage from other cable companies yet, but I’m wondering what sugguestions this community may have. Direct TV is looking pretty good right about now…

Thanks. I’ll consider it.

I’ve been a Dish Network subscriber since 9/11 when we lost local TV reception. I haven’t had any significant problems with them. Just keep in mind that when the weather’s bad, you might lose your satellite signal for a while. During the nor’easter last week, we lost our signal beginning at 3pm through the evening, but it was back early the following morning. During Hurricane Sandy, there was no loss of signal and, surprisingly enough, the dish didn’t end up on someone else’s roof.
