how many brokers to rent an apartment?

Hi, We listed a 3br apartment in bensonhurst with a broker we have worked with before. We really want to make sure we rent the places by May 1, so how aggressive should we be about multiple listings? Should we list it with 2 agents? 3? Should we list it ourselves at the same time?  And any suggestions for brokers who deal with Bensonhurst/Gravesend?

I would think the fastest way to rent an apartment would be to list it yourself. People will come running for an apt with no broker’s fee.

People in that neck of the woods still read papers like the Bay News (or whatever Courier-Life publishes in 11223).  As much as people like to scream “print is dead” there’s something to be said for a hyper-local newspaper, or even putting up a flyer in your local supermarket.

In your area, I don’t think people check the NY Times, Streeteasy listings as much so I would focus your attention on getting a broker that has a visible storefront in a high traffic area. I think 2 brokers should be enough. Consider renting it yourself in the last week, but don’t list it right away. Otherwise you will dilute the marketing power of a single point of contact.  If you really want it rented right away, price it a little undermarket and make sure it is clean. Make sure your broker knows how to take photos and post on Craigslist…  Snezan (Agent)
