What happened to the gateway thread?

For the record, I like and have sometimes relied on the advice Master Plvmber has given here and have met John personally and like him.  But there was a thread here with a query about Gateway and there were comments on both sides of the question and it would have been interesting to see a resolution, or at least an explanation or editor’s note as to why the post came down.

I’m not sure how I feel about this forum to air such a thing out. I feel like its a lose, lose for the business, opening them up to half truths and out right slander, no matter how they respond. Of course, I welcome the need for open discussion of contractors, good, bad, or ugly. Moderation of these posts are in order, as a rambling post, such as the original thread, can disproportianely affect the reputation of a business. If it were my issue…I wouldn’t have used the actual names.

Well that colors my perception of the recommendations here.   It’s never been a great, reliable source of recommendations but being filtered by the owner detracts greatly from what little credibility there was.

Seeing as how I regularly take advantage of this forum for contractor opinions and recommendations, this is a bit disconcerting.  I had posted one of the few comments about negative experiences with Gateway which are a rarity on the forums here – and it appears I now have a window into why/how that may be the case.  It’s a shame as this board often serves as a great resource for this community and there aren’t many others out there….angieslist just doesnt quite cut it.  Although, we must remember that at the end of the day this is a business with advertisers, employees and bottom lines.
