Recommendation for a 50 gallon hot water heater brand?

Hi All-
I’ve read all the Brownstoner forum postingss on hot water heaters. There’s some mixed opinions about AO Smith hot water heaters but not much else. And, there’s not much out there on the internet about what is a good brand (though plenty of complaints on all brands). Anyone have a hot water heater for a couple of years have an opinion? I’d be intersted to learn what recommended as well as what’s not recommended. Looking to buy a 50 gallon hot water heater. Thanks!

I’m on my third A.O. Smith in 38 years (the water heater in my house when I bought it was a Serval). I’ve never had a problem with an AOS water heater, although they don’t seem to last much after their 10 year guarantee is up. I did have one fail slightly BEFORE 10 years, which was good as I got another and only had to pay for the labor of installation.
