Navien Expert??

Does anyone here really know there way around the Navien systems? I have a CH-240 and it’s always been a struggle (just installed post Sandy, so not even a year old). The original plumber I had install it lost their ‘one guy’ who did the Naviens, so I don’t feel like I can call on them with confidence. My GC from my rebuild learned a lot and did a lot with the system, but it’s really never worked flawlessly, and now he is away. I really need an expert. I just turned on my heat for the year and it’s totally messed up my hot water. It was total cause and effect. I’ve had the problem intermittently ever since install. I have a tenant so it’s not like it’s just me and my family that I have to worry about. Any recommendations or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I’m sure there’s something wrong in the installation- or between what’s programmed and what’s supposed to happen mechanically. I just need help.

I was an authorized Bosch service agent, but never loved the units. I’m currently certified with both Weil-McLain and Triangle Tube. Both are great products. You didn’t make a bad choice going with Navien, you just went with a right now lesser known product than the others.

You are looking for a wrong professional. Plumbers, with few exceptions, know nothing about heating. You must look for heating professional.

The sad thing is, I spent countless hours researching these things till I was blue in the face. I had gotten kind of excited about Weill McLain or triangle tube- or even Bosch. I wasn’t even totally price driven. I expressed my wishes to my plumber, but they sold me the bill of goods for the Navien. Being that I am an end user and not a professional plumber I deferred to them. It was certainly a mistake at this point, but I still hope there is some plumber out there who can help me.

All high efficiency boilers must be properly installed, set up and configured. It is not plug and play thingis. Unless installer understands what exactly he is doing, doing anything is useless. Navien is targeting low end market, and find knowledgeable installer in this low priced segment is mission impossible. Good luck.

Navien has come on strong in the past year by targeting our market. Perhaps because of Sandy. I don’t know. I must admit, I’ve got limited experience with them and if you’ve got a persistent problem, your best bet is to go on their website and find a contact number for the factory or area rep. Let them recommend a “factory trained/certified” service company for you. You’re right to not let just anyone touch that thing. All the wall hung combination heat/hot water stuff can drive you crazy.
