Looking for a Tankless gas water heater for a 6 family building.

I would like to replace the 75 gallon water heater with a tankless gas model.  However, I am not sure they make one that can handle a 6 family building.  All my units are 1 bedroom units.  I will also need someone who know’s how to install the unit.   Thanks in advance.

Here’s an article by MasterPlvmber from Gateway on tankless water heaters: http://www.heatinghelp.com/article/352/Water-Heaters/27/Tankless-water-heaters The article is a few years old and technology may have changed, but I don’t think it would make any sense to put a tankless heater in a 6 family building. Maybe more so for your vacation home, where you use hot water, one shower at a time, when you’re there and don’t need to store hot water for weeks or months when nobody’s there. You might look into an indirect water heater for the 6-family.

Tankless type water heaters at the peak load have pretty high gas consumption so you will need oversized new gas line from meter to new water heater. Even existing service has to be checked for proper sizing. Also tankless water heaters have a minimum flow requirement and for low flow might not provide hot water. If you have recirculating line it might be a problem, because small pump could not work against high pressure resistance of water heater. And savings are very questionable. There other ways to upgrade water heaters than tanks less. Also, the one who knows how to install it must possess as well plumbing license, this job must be filed with DOB
