Termites and neighbors

I just found termites in our garden apt kitchen, which is an extension.  Last fall my neighbor told me they were tearing down their wood fence because it had termites.. They left the posts and I don’t think ever had an exterminator come.  So, my question is, when I exterminate should I be asking them to do the same as well?  Will they just keep coming back?  It’s a moot point, but do you think we got them from the neighbors in the first place?  Our house was inspected a little over a year ago with no sign of termites.  Thanks.

Termites will always come back unless you have an exterminator in every couple years. This is something you have to stay on top of like any other maintance on your house. I don’t think it’s realistic to blame your neighbors. Termites are everywhere. Preventative maintance will protect your house.
