Exterminator for rat/mouse
Need some advice/exterminator recommendations. we live on the ground floor of a brownstone. for the past few weeks we’ve noticed some squeaking/rustling noises under our wood porch deck. This morning we saw something in the kitchen about the size of a large mouse/small rat run from under the stove and into the dishwasher (unless my eyes were playing tricks on me – I checked a few minutes later but did not see anything in there). Can a mouse/rat enter/exit through the inside of a dishwasher? Any recommendations for an exterminator, tips for how to keep these mice/rats out, or thoughts on whether what I saw was a mouse or a rat? Thanks so much for any help, and sorry for the laundry list of general questions.

A mouse can move through a hole the size of a pencil, so the odds you can completely seal your house are slim to none. We’ve been fighting them for the past couple of years. No trap will be as effective as removing what attracts the mice to your place to begin with. Keep your kitchen spotless–no dishes in the sink, wipe down surfaces daily, mop regularly and take out the trash even when you think you can fit a few more things in. Anything beyond that is sticking your thumb in the dike.

Although, there are many ways to get rid of them butif the infestation is sever then I would I think you must look for some professional pest control experts. I found positive pest to be a reliable solution for rodents. You can check more about then by following the link below http://www.positivepest.net/nyc-rat-and-mouse-extermination-services

Yep, fill the holes. They often chew the openings around pipes for access so that’s a good place to start. Also, look for holes in old cabinetry. I prefer to avoid poison (who wants dead mice in the walls?) and glue traps and snap traps can leave you with only injured mice to dispose of. I’m a huge fan of mouse zappers. [This one](http://www.amazon.com/Victor-Electronic-Mouse-Trap-M2524/dp/B000E1RIUU) is amazing and I think they make a rat one as well. A lot of local hardware stores and sometimes places like Lowes carry these. I’ve killed one, dumped the body, put it back in place and got another within minutes several times. No mess, much pet friendly than the alternatives. Smear a very tiny amount of peanut butter on the inside of the holes in the back. I don’t think you can kill that many mice on one set of batteries, though. I changed them every 6 or so mice (depending on how long they sat after death) to make sure they were getting a quick death.
