Painter, et al Review

We had Where To Get It Services paint a good portion of our house, remove and replace a ceiling, do other drywall and carpentry work, and finally sand and refinish our floor and replace the baseboards. Philip did the majority of the work with his brother and some employees. For the quality of the work, I would say five stars or close to it. Philip is a perfectionist. When I pointed out that a faux pillar he made wasn’t square, for instance, instead of arguing with me or trying to fake it, he tore it down the next day and rebuilt it. And on the final walkthrough, he touched up the detail work that his painters had left a little sloppy. He skim coated all of the walls, which were in pretty bad shape, and made a few necessary repairs before painting. Everything looks great. Ripping out the ceiling was a major endeavor, and the new ceiling blends perfectly with the one it touches. I’ll also add that he showed up on time every morning and stayed late when he needed to.

The quoted price came in a good bit lower than the other licensed contractor who bid on the project, and it was only a few hundred dollars higher than the two “guys” who gave a bid.

We’re going to do the floors and baseboards in our bedrooms next year, and we plan on hiring Philip for the job.

The one ding against the company is the paperwork. On the invoice, they lump items together instead of listing each task one by one. My advice—and really this goes with any contractor—is to itemize things yourself and have them paste it into the contract. In the end, I feel like I was treated fairly. But we could have avoided some confusion.
