FOUND DOG CROWN HEIGHTS

On Sunday 1/5 my friend and I found a little black terrier dog wearing a collar with no tags and a tan shearling style doggie coat. He or she was wandering North on Franklin Ave and turned left onto Bergen toward Classon. We followed it and called it “Toto” which it responded to, and then we picked him up and carried him/her up and down the block, asking people if they recognized him. Nobody did. Neither of us were able to take him or her in and with no tags on him we gave him over to the police. They said they were taking him to either Harlem or East New York shelter — likely Harlem as it was around 730-8PM and the E NY shelter stops intake at 8PM. The poor thing was sweet and still had his coat on! Wherever you are, we hope you find your dog.

Did you consider that the dog may just have been on his way home? I would hate it if my dog accidentally got loose and some busybody turned him in to the *pound*. Why not at least keep the dog for a few days and put up notices? If you can’t do that next time, leave loose animals alone.
