Moving One Pallet of Stone - Need recommendations!
I would like to move one pallet of stone from Brooklyn Heights to Crown Heights. I am looking for someone who can do it for $100-$125\. The stones are big- about 400 pounds each, but there are 8 on a pallet, so could be moved one at a time by hand or all at once if you have the right equipment. Any recommendations?

Agreed with above poster. You will not find anyone to move eight 400 pound stones for that price. M guess would be 1-2k

I think your price is unreasonable. Someone who has the equipment/people to move a ton+ of stone slabs is going to want more than $125\. My guess is you are off by a factor of 10\.

Hey tried to answer but it disappeared. Go to the Uhaul on 4th avenue and 6th street (I think it’s 6th) and when you pull in a lot of times you will be over-run with day laborers looking for work. Many of the Mexican day laborers worked with stone back in their native countries and are boss at moving them easily and without breakage. Be prepared to haggle. Be clear on what you are willing to pay. Let them know if there are any obstacles such as stairs or whatever and also be prepared to have them tell you no if they think the pay is too little. I have used them several times and been very happy. Of course follow the common sense “this is NY not Nebraska rule”. Dont let them in your house. If this is a girl don’t do it alone and have a few friends with you. Don’t offer them rides and don’t pay upfront. Also be mindful that sometimes the blacks, the mexicans the russians and the poles don’t like each other so they may try to diss each other in order to score the job. Just be prepared for that and ask them “have you worked with large slabs of stone. If anyone says yes then ask them in what capacity. Good luck.
