What are your thoughts/installation experiences with slide in ranges?

My contractor recommends a slide in range. The do look streamlined. I have never had one and saw some debates on line about whether they need a strip of counter top behind them and some say they block drawers on either side. Thoughts?

We have one. It’s a Jenn-Air. It does not block the drawers at all. It came with a strip of aluminum to put at the back. You can’t see the aluminum unless you lean over the stove.

You will need to fabricate a support for a small strip of countertop behind the slide in. I do like the look, the only downside being the extra expense versus a conventional range.

I think if done right they look great. The only concern you might have is if you have kids around the house. All the controls to the stove are on the front panel compared to the freestanding ranges which have the oven controls on the out-of-reach back panel.
