Recommendations needed -- architect for kitchen renovation

Hi all, I’m looking for recommendations for an architect to design the plans for my kitchen gut renovation that I can bid out to general contractors (the renovation will include pulling down a wall, which will also necessitate changing some electrical wiring, which is why I’ll need an architect), file the plans with DOB, perhaps suggest some good sources for materials, and check in on the work of the contractors at some point to ensure everything is being built according to specifications. I have a clear idea of what I want design-wise but it would be great if a creative architect could point out things I hadn’t thought about in order to maximize the space and make it more functional. I’m looking for someone who charges a reasonable rate or is willing to work on an hourly basis since the work will not be that involved. I’m working with a tight budget and can’t go much beyond $5000 for architect services. I’d love recommendations–not from architects directly offering their services–but from site users who have worked with architects on their kitchen remodels. Many thanks in advance!

I would search on Porch online directory for a designer. The designers affiliated with them are often certified in Kitchen design, [https://porch.com/local/remodeling-contractors/](https://porch.com/local/remodeling-contractors/) and have a network of contractors, architects & builder. I found my designer through them for my current Kitchen remodel. I recommend talking with a couple of them to see how you feel. I knew my designer was the right one when she understood what I meant when I said “the house tells you what it wants.”

You can try to design a kitchen yourself first and then show the architect the illustrative example of what you’d like your kitchen to be to get some pieces of advice. It’s very ineresting. According to me, **Aura Kitchens & Cabinetry** is the best option of you. I have used their services two times. One for kitchen and second for bathroom, both times i get excelelnt work.

unless you want something special-special for which a good architect will laugh at your $5K budget, why don’t you visit some of the numerous kitchen showrooms in the city-they have kitchen designers that will inundate you with ideas, many will give you printed out plans from a special kitchen software that will be good enough for bids. I assume you’ve already figured out the appliances, which should be the staring point
